Late Night Secrets

Anonymous Shy Cupcake #403 · General Confessions

I work the night shift at the hospital, taking care of patients all alone when everyone else is sleeping. It's a tough job, but it keeps me busy and helps pay the bills. But there’s this one thing that happens... I don’t know why, or how long it’ll last, but sometimes I go into these little zones where I’m not myself anymore. The patient looks younger, they’re all innocent and scared, and I just want to take care of them like a mom would with her child. It’s weird though, there are no children here, only adults needing medical help. But in my head, I become their caretaker, the one who guides and disciplines when needed. I feel ashamed admitting this because it’s so unlike me. I should know better but... something about being up late at night takes control away from me. It doesn’t happen every day though, just those rare moments when all I want to do is be a guardian for someone in need, no matter their age.
