Wrestling with My Inner Child

Anonymous Playful Petal #724 · General Confessions

I've been in a long-term relationship with my partner for five years now. We started out as platonic friends before things heated up, and while we're very open to different kinks, there's one thing that sets us apart from others: our shared love for role-playing scenarios involving childhood memories. I never felt like this was anything more than fun play until recently when it started to feel deeper, almost therapeutic. At first, the sessions were about exploring my playful side and letting go of stress. We'd pick a scenario that reminded us both of simpler times, like a playground fight or backyard hide-and-seek. The games became intimate in a way that was initially just fun, we laughed, we got messy, and it felt good to be carefree again. But over time, as these sessions grew more frequent, I started to notice something unsettling. Every time we role-played, I would feel an overwhelming sense of nostalgia mixed with a childlike eagerness, almost like I was reliving my youth but this time feeling the freedom to explore every nook and cranny without any adult responsibilities looming over me. My partner seems to understand what I’m going through and supports it, which makes me question if there's something unhealthy about seeking that youthful liberation in our kink play. Is it normal for someone my age, twenty-eight, to find solace in these moments of perceived innocence? Or is this a sign that deeper issues are at work here? I’m reaching out to understand whether I'm the asshole for still wanting to escape into those playful memories or if there’s something valid and positive about seeking comfort from our shared past. What do you think?
