new to this but excited

hey everyone i just started exploring dd/lg stuff and its crazy how much i enjoy it. been reading up on the rules n such and really getting into it. my partner is super supportive too which is awesome. we've tried a few scenes already, like when i pretend to be their little girl or they're daddy and i'm a naughty 18+ brat. its fun but also kinda intense. feel like i should ask yall something though - how do u guys deal with the emotional stuff? i mean, it can get pretty deep right? so im wondering how others handle all that... anyone wanna chime in? thanks!
