When Caring For Someone Feels Like Coddling Myself Too

Anonymous Peachy Pixie #638 · Little Space

So uh, this might sound a bit ridiculous but here goes. I'm this stay-at-home parent type person and we don't have any strict labels or anything, it's just me looking after our little space together. Anyway, one day, she starts acting like... well, let's say way younger than her 18+. It’s all innocent stuff at first - coloring books and stuffed animals are suddenly back in the house. But then, there were these moments where I kinda felt like I was taking care of myself too, if that makes sense? Like when she wanted me to read bedtime stories or tuck her in with a bottle. Weird right? I mean, it's not something we talk about much because it’s mostly my thing, I love being the one who can just melt into this nurturing role and forget all the grown-up stress for a bit. And yes, sometimes during... well, intimate moments too, she'd want me to be more like a caregiver than ever before. It's kind of liberating actually, getting lost in that headspace where you're not thinking about anything else but just being there for this tiny person. Anyway, I guess the question is, am I doing something wrong or is it perfectly okay when caring for someone feels as good as taking care of yourself too? It’s kinda fun and silly to think about, but also it's a real thing that happens sometimes.
