Struggling to Connect

I'm an artist who's just started exploring a kink I've been curious about for years. It felt like the world was watching as we tried it out, but instead of excitement, all I felt was this overwhelming sadness. Is it normal to feel this way after something that's supposed to be enjoyable? Am I doing something wrong?
