The Line I Crossed Unintentionally
Anonymous Peachy Cupcake #805 · General Confessions
I've always been quite strict in my approach to discipline, especially since transitioning into a little role within my relationship. This aspect of me is something I keep very private and internalized, but it's hard not to feel like I'm slipping when faced with challenging situations that bring back old habits. My current partner is someone who supports my interests as long as they're within the realm of our mutually agreed-upon boundaries. We've been together for a few years now, and while she knows about my little-space inclinations, we haven't delved deeply into them due to personal preferences on her side. I teach high school mathematics in a public institution with a reputation for strictness. I often find myself drawn towards the idea of discipline as an educational tool, but it's always within legal and ethical frameworks. However, there was this one student, let's call him Alex, he was struggling significantly both academically and personally. He had been absent frequently due to personal issues and was falling behind in class. One day, during a private tutoring session with him after school hours, the frustration got the best of me. I found myself being more forceful than usual in my guidance. There was no physical contact involved, but the tone and demeanor I adopted were reminiscent of how my little-self feels under strict discipline at home. My words felt sharp and harsher than they needed to be. It wasn't until later that night that the full weight of what had happened hit me, I realized the intensity with which I spoke might have reminded him, unconsciously, of a stern parent or authority figure. Reflecting on it now, while I didn't cross any legal boundaries or harm Alex in any real way, there was still something troubling about how far my disciplinary approach strayed from our usual professional relationship. The feeling that I had intruded into his personal space, even unintentionally, is something I'm finding hard to reconcile. I've apologized and tried to make amends since then by being more supportive and understanding towards Alex. It's a reminder of how careful one needs to be with their personal tendencies when they're in positions of authority over someone else. The line between professional distance and the deep-seated disciplinary methods I personally explore can get blurry, especially under pressure. This confession is hard for me to write but necessary for my own peace of mind and self-reflection. It's a reminder that even within consensual dynamics, there are ethical considerations when these spill over into other areas of life.
