missed connection

so i work at this little retail store and its not like the big chains where you can hide in a crowd. everyone knows everyone else. it got to me after awhile, feeling small, invisible. but then one night this girl comes in, she's probably mid-twenties or so, blonde hair, green eyes, kinda pixieish face and just... wow. i feel myself blush as soon as she walks through the door. i dont know how long we stare at each other until shes like hey and smiles big. it was weird after that cus we both were acting all shy and flustered but also totally not because im thinking about her in ways thats probably illegal to think about coworkers, yeah? and then one day she asks me out! yay yay yay thought i had a chance with someone hot finally. so we go out but uh it was weird cus like, its hard to be around the girl who looks just like my childhood best friend except older and hotter when u know shes not actually that person anymore. sounds silly right? but im always thinking back to then when things were simpler, less complicated...
