The Caregiver's Dilemma
Anonymous Sugar Cub #409 · General Confessions
I've been in a relationship with my partner for over four years now. We're both in our late twenties and have had a lot of experiences together, including some kink dynamics. Lately, though, I’ve started feeling more and more like the little one, enjoying being taken care of and disciplined when I step out of line. My partner is incredibly supportive of my exploration into this side of our dynamic, but it's not been without its challenges. One night, after a particularly rough day at work where everything seemed to go wrong, I came home exhausted and frustrated. I wanted nothing more than to curl up on the couch and be taken care of like I was a child again. My partner offered to take me out for dinner, but it wasn’t quite what I needed in that moment. Instead, I ended up asking them to put me to bed early, to read me a bedtime story, and to make sure I went to sleep on time. We have these moments where we play out an age-play scenario, which can be incredibly comforting and emotionally healing for both of us. However, this night was different. After they had tucked me in with a soft blanket and dimmed the lights, I fell asleep rather quickly, only to wake up feeling like I needed more attention. It was hard because my partner was working on some project that required their full focus, but I couldn’t help myself from asking for more care and discipline, even though it disrupted their workflow. I kept interrupting them with requests for bedtime cuddles, more stories, and reminders of all the house rules. Every time they tried to redirect me back to my bedroom, I found excuses to come out again. It felt like a cycle that was hard for both of us to break. In the end, it wasn’t about being a little in an unhealthy or disrespectful way; it was about feeling overwhelmed and needing more support than usual. My partner eventually had to set boundaries and make me understand that while my needs were important, so were theirs when it came to their own work time. It’s been tough coming to terms with this balance but also rewarding to grow together as a couple in these new ways. So here I am, confessing how sometimes being the little one can be as much about finding comfort and validation in challenging times as it is about exploring kink dynamics.
