My Secret Life as a Switch Parent
Anonymous Dizzy Marshmallow #903 · General Confessions
Being a stay-at-home parent is tough, let me tell you. I've got this little one who's always on the go, and then there are times when I need to recharge, so to speak. It's funny how switching gears from caregiver mode to... well, something else entirely can be such a liberating shift. My partner knows all about it; we've had many discussions over the years, and they understand that sometimes, after being responsible for every little thing in my kid’s life, I need to feel a bit less grown-up myself. It's not always about strictness or punishment, though that does happen occasionally. More often than not, it's about taking on an adult role where rules are clear and consequences follow swiftly, or playing the part of someone who just needs to be taken care of. It’s weirdly comforting, this ability to switch between nurturing a child and being one myself in different ways. And you know what? I wouldn't change a thing.
