Regression During Medical Rounds

As a doctor, I've come to understand my tendency towards regression as merely another aspect of self-care. Tonight, while making rounds at the hospital, I found myself retreating into this headspace where responsibilities dissolve and safety prevails. It’s a clinical observation more than anything, a detached way to manage stress without letting it affect patient care. Moderately descriptive, but not graphic, this is about mental regression, feeling protected and childlike during demanding tasks.
