I Broke a Little Rule

I feel like such a disappointment today. I’m supposed to be the responsible one, but I let something slip. It was just yesterday morning, when she asked me if I had cleaned the bathroom before I started my workday from home. And you know what? I lied and said yes because it looked so clean from outside that I thought I could handle it later. But then, work got busy, and I completely forgot about it. Today, as I was getting ready to leave for a walk, she called me out on it, right there in front of the whole house. Everyone heard her yell at me like I was some kind of naughty boy who’d been caught stealing candy. She made me stay home and clean up everything while they went off somewhere together, leaving me alone with my shame. The bathroom is spotless now, but that feeling? It won’t go away so easily.
