Learning Curves and Trust Issues
Anonymous Shy Marshmallow #155 · General Confessions
I've been a stay-at-home parent for the past year and it's all been about figuring out who I am outside of my role as a mother. Lately, I started exploring DDLG with a partner who respects my journey but also challenges me in ways that feel both exciting and scary. We've talked extensively about trust and setting boundaries, which is essential when you're stepping into an adult roleplay dynamic after years of playing other parts. The idea of regression feels liberating on one hand, it's like getting to be a kid again without the responsibilities, but also daunting because it triggers some childhood fears and insecurities that I'm still working through. The first time we played, I felt both incredibly vulnerable and strangely free. We set up an afternoon with books, toys, and snacks like something out of my childhood. It was surreal, sitting there as if I were six again but knowing the reality is very different. There's a part of me that wonders if this could ever be healthy long-term, or if it's just a phase until I grow more comfortable with being an adult in charge of myself and others. I think what scares me most isn't giving up control as much as trusting someone else to guide me through my fears. Can you relate? What would you do differently in this situation, or how did you navigate similar feelings when exploring DDLG for the first time?
