A Slippery Slope of Care and Play

Anonymous Bratty Bean #890 · General Confessions

I started as just another bartender at this dive bar. It’s always busy on weekends, and everyone knows me for pouring drinks like a machine. But the real truth is something I’m still ashamed to admit even here, in an anonymous confession space. About six months back, one of our regulars, let's call him Jack, Jack who comes every night with his old friend Mike but seems way more into drinking than talking, started asking me about my past. We got along well enough over drinks, and before I knew it, he found out that I used to be a caregiver for a little person, a little play thing back in the day. It was never serious; just some friends with similar interests. Jack seemed intrigued, maybe a bit envious too. He kept pushing me to talk more about those times. And then one night, after closing up and counting tips, he asked if I’d ever be interested in doing that again, not for money, but just as another kind of relationship. I laughed it off at first. But over time, his persistence wore on me. He started visiting alone sometimes, bringing presents, trying to earn my trust, or maybe mine too. Before I could stop myself, I found myself agreeing to a meeting outside the bar one evening after work. We met up in an empty alley behind the place we both called home. He looked so eager, but I still felt like a fool for considering it. Yet here’s where things got weird. Instead of trying to be ‘the little’, Jack wanted me to take on the caregiver role, something that had always been just a playful hobby between consenting adults in my past. Now he was making it real again, and I found myself actually liking his attention, feeling needed and protected somehow. It’s not like anything explicit happened that night, I swear! We talked mostly, shared some drinks, and played along with the roles we’d chosen for ourselves. The next few weeks were filled with similar nights out after my shifts. But as time went on, I found myself feeling increasingly responsible for this grown man's happiness, and confused about what he really wanted. I thought it was all just roleplay until one night he got emotional and confessed how alone he felt without me around during the day. It hit hard because suddenly it wasn't just fun, it became serious in a way I hadn’t expected or planned for. And that's where my story gets muddy. I ended up staying involved with Jack, but not fully understanding the depth of feelings I started to have for him, beyond our little/big dynamics. Now looking back, I feel embarrassed and unsure if I crossed some line without realizing it.
