When I Played Both Roles for My Partner's Birthday Surprise

So here’s my story and I genuinely want some input on whether or not I'm the asshole. A couple of months ago, me and my partner were talking about doing something different to spice things up in our relationship. We’ve been together for three years now and both really like playing with power dynamics and care-giving roles. So we agreed that as a birthday present for my partner (let’s call them 'Alex'), I’d play both sides of the role-play on their special day. Basically, Alex wanted to experience being taken care of in two scenarios, one where they're the little and I'm the caregiver, and another where they’re the caregiver and I'm the little. On their actual birthday, we started with me as the caregiver for Alex's first scenario. It was amazing; Alex really enjoyed having me take charge and do all the things a parent would typically do for their child. We made it extra fun by adding in some light discipline to make sure they were following 'the rules' of our little space. For the second half, I switched roles and became the little one while Alex took on the caregiver role. It’s kind of funny because even though I was playing a little, we both agreed that it would still be fun for me to give orders as well, like “you better take care of mommy now!” I think the reason why some folks might say this is dodgy is because while Alex really enjoyed switching roles, they did feel like there was something missing in the second scenario. It wasn’t quite as fulfilling or impactful as when I took on the caregiver role for them. But at the same time, it felt great to be spoiled and taken care of by my partner. So here’s my question: Am I really the asshole for not giving Alex the full experience they were hoping for? Or is this just a limitation that every dynamic has between partners when you switch roles like this? I’m genuinely curious about your thoughts! Let me know in the comments what you think.
