Feeling Small Again
Anonymous Secret Bean #564 · Little Space
I'm at home with my kids all day long, which is wonderful but also exhausting. When the world feels too big, sometimes I have to shrink down into little space. It's like a warm hug and a safe corner when everything else seems too loud.
So today after lunch, I had one of those moments where it just felt impossible to keep going. My head was heavy with worries and tasks that never seem to end. But then I remembered my stuffies, the ones I've loved since forever, even though they're old and threadbare now. It’s comforting how worn out they look too.
I picked up one of them, an elephant named Edward who's been with me through everything, and cuddled it close. My favorite blanket is still in my room under a pile of laundry from last week that never made it to the washing machine. I wrapped myself tight in its soft warmth, then lay down on the floor where I could look up at the ceiling fan like when I was younger.
It felt good, but also sad, there’s always this part of me that feels so small and lost in my big body now. And it makes me wonder if others feel this way too? Is this normal for littles to struggle with their grown-up responsibilities while wanting nothing more than a break from the world outside?
Do you ever have those days where everything seems impossible, but also comforting when you shrink back into your little self?
