Just Another Night Shift

Had to take care of a stubborn patient tonight who refused any kind of medication or fluids. Turned out he was just playing hard-to-get for the attention and affection. Had to become his temporary Mommy, cajoling and soothing him like I would a kid having a tantrum. End result? He finally cooperated and got his necessary treatments in exchange for me tucking him into bed with a story and a soft blanket. Work sure does get weird sometimes.
