Guilty Secret from Law School

Anonymous Blushing Cupcake #733 · General Confessions

I’ll never forget that time I felt like a little kid again. It was last week, during my family care session with Marcus. He’s been helping me through some tough times as an 18+ caregiver, and he has this way of making everything feel so safe and nurturing. But one day, after we had planned out our tasks for the evening, grocery shopping, preparing meals, I got distracted by a shiny new book in the law library I had to check out. So there I was, lounging on my bed with that book instead of tending to the groceries like Marcus had asked me to do. The guilt hit hard as soon as it sunk in how much time had slipped away. By the time I got to the store, all the fresh veggies were gone and only canned stuff remained. When I confessed this little blunder back at home, Marcus wasn’t angry, but his disappointment was palpable. It made me feel so small and irresponsible, like a child who disappointed their parent. It’s funny how something as simple as not following through on chores can make you realize just how much responsibility you’ve taken on, and how important it is to honor that trust.
