Lost Touch with My Boy Again

I've been this Daddy for a couple of years now, but lately my boy and I haven't really clicked. He's in his twenties too, like me, but he doesn't seem to want the same things anymore. Last week we tried reconnecting over Skype, but it felt forced. We talked about boundaries and expectations, which is good, but then he started complaining about how I don't understand him. It was hard not to take it personally. Sometimes when he's upset or feeling neglected, he'll say these hurtful things, but it's just his way of trying to get a reaction from me. I wish we could find our groove again, but right now I'm just feeling lost.
