Broke Little Rules for a Sweet Treat

Anonymous Starry Petal #428 · General Confessions

I've always been good at following my caregiver's rules. Lately though, I've been feeling so tired and stressed from work. Today was one of those days where every customer was an extra hassle, and I just needed something to lift my mood. I told myself I'd resist the temptation of that chocolate bar in the break room until after closing time, a rule we made to keep me focused on the job. But then there it sat, shiny foil catching the light. My resolve crumbled faster than my willpower ever does. I snuck a bite when nobody was looking. Just one little taste shouldn't matter, right? It's not like I stole something valuable, just a few bucks worth of chocolate. But breaking our rule felt bigger to me than that. The rest of the day dragged on, and all I could think about was whether anyone noticed my mistake. When it came time to close up shop, I locked myself in the break room to clean up the mess. It's not like there were any crumbs left behind, just a guilty feeling sitting heavy in my stomach. I knew coming home with that taste of forbidden sweetness would only cause problems. My caregiver is strict about rules for good reasons, and today I felt so selfish wanting something small. The little part of me wanted to hide it away forever, while the bigger part wishes I could go back in time to make a different choice. But life doesn't work that way, now all I can do is hope we'll talk about it soon, and I'll face whatever consequences come my way for bending our rules. It's not often I let myself get so off track from the structure we set up together. This chocolate confession feels like a big deal to me.
