Analyzing My Little Space

Anonymous Candy Duckling #963 · General Confessions

I've been in this little space for the last few months, trying to figure out why I like it so much. It's not just about the playful aspect of being a little, but there's something comforting in the simplicity and protection of that mindset. Being cared for by someone who sees me as their responsibility feels grounding... Like when I'm stressed or overwhelmed with grad school work, slipping into a more childlike role helps me compartmentalize my adult worries. But sometimes it feels like too much; balancing these contrasting aspects of myself can be exhausting. Why does being the little still resonate so deeply? It's an escape from reality, but also a way to face it on terms I find manageable. The dynamics with my caregiver... they're complex and intense in ways that both scare me and exhilarate me. There’s something about this dynamic that helps me grow while simultaneously making me feel safe and cherished.
