Retail Therapy
Anonymous Sleepy Plum #566 · General Confessions
Working retail is draining, but sometimes the stress gets transformed into something else entirely. I'm not sure how or when it began, but there's this little part of me that just needs to be taken care of from time to being a caregiver myself. It’s funny because one moment I’m handling demanding customers and keeping inventory on point, the next I could find myself daydreaming about returning home where someone else takes charge of my well-being, no matter how grown-up I am in real life. This little part of me feels like it fits better when cared for by a dominant figure, even if just once in a while. It’s not something to feel ashamed of; it's my way of balancing the chaotic world outside with an oasis of calm and comfort inside. Nobody knows this side of me except those few trusted friends who understand the complexity behind each role I play. In my twenties, I found solace knowing there are people out there who appreciate and respect these dynamics as much as I do.
