...Navigating Uncharted Territory...

I've always prided myself on being in control, professionally as an economics professor and personally. But lately, I've been drawn into a new realm that's both exhilarating and confusing: a dominant-submissive dynamic with my partner, Mike. It started innocuously enough, small gestures of playful teasing and role-playing at home... but it has grown more serious recently. Mike and I have been together for three years now. We've had our ups and downs, but we've always found a way to communicate openly about our needs and boundaries. When he first mentioned the idea of exploring this type of relationship, I was skeptical, even hesitant... But something inside me clicked when he suggested it. Maybe it's because we both felt like we needed an escape from the monotony of daily life; maybe it's because we've always had a strong element of playfulness in our interactions. We started slowly, with simple role-playing games and gentle exercises in trust and power exchange... It was exciting and intense, but also made me feel strangely vulnerable. As time passed, I found myself wanting more control over certain aspects of our relationship, like when to go out socially or what we do on weekends. The thought of making decisions based on his desires alone felt alien yet strangely appealing. Now, here's where things get complicated... Last weekend, during a particularly heated moment, I found myself pushing him harder than usual and implementing punishments for breaking our rules, like grounding him to the house or restricting access to certain spaces. He seemed to like it... but afterward, we both felt conflicted. It was exciting in a way neither of us expected, but also made me wonder if I'm crossing some invisible line that shouldn't be crossed. Am I being unreasonable? Am I too controlling? Or is this just another form of play and experimentation for two consenting adults? The more I think about it, the more questions come up... It's a delicate balance, especially considering our age difference, I'm in my early 40s and he's younger. Should I let go and enjoy these moments while they're new and exciting, or should I rein things back and focus on traditional dynamics? What do you think? Is it normal to feel both excited and uncertain at the same time...?
