Small Disobedience in the Little Space
Anonymous Snuggly Fawn #665 · General Confessions
I was supposed to be the model student and little girl for my partner's study break rules tonight. He wanted me to stay off social media completely until I finished all of my reading assignments and papers for tomorrow's meeting with my academic advisor. As a grad student, procrastination is already bad enough without adding this extra self-imposed rule. But when the clock hit midnight last night, I couldn't resist just one peek at Twitter. My mind had been racing all day with work stress, and social media offered a momentary distraction, a quick dopamine rush to take the edge off before bed. I felt that familiar mix of guilt and regret as soon as it happened. I knew the rule was there for good reason, but sometimes the temptation just feels too strong. The little space we create isn't immune to real-life temptations and human flaws. So here's to a better tomorrow, no distractions until the reading is done.
