When I Snuck That Piece of Chocolate
Anonymous Sleepy Bunny #843 · General Confessions
I feel like such a child sometimes. We have this standing rule in our dynamic that we don't eat chocolate after dinner, it's one of those small things that just reminds us to pay attention and respect each other's boundaries, you know? It’s about following the rules even when they're arbitrary. Tonight, I was feeling so indulgent though. My daughter had been out late with friends and she left a truffle on her plate. I couldn’t resist picking it up. I took just one bite, savored every creamy bit of it melting in my mouth, and then hid the rest under my pillow where she wouldn't find it first thing tomorrow morning. Of course, as soon as it was gone, guilt set in like a weight on my chest. The whole night felt off because of that little moment of defiance. I know she'll be upset when she finds out, but more than that, I’m ashamed to admit how good breaking even this tiny rule made me feel.
