A Small Act of Rebellion

Anonymous Secret Moth #902 · General Confessions

I've been married for over two decades now and we've had a wonderful life together. We don't have any specific labels or roles in our relationship, but I find myself occasionally slipping into this mindset where I feel like I need to be told what to do and sometimes even punished for not following through. It's strange because it doesn't relate to anything sexual or kinky, it's just an emotional connection that comes out when we're having a particularly difficult week. This past weekend, there was a small chore that I'd been avoiding, something as trivial as vacuuming the living room. My husband had kindly asked me to do it twice last week and I kept putting it off. It's not like me at all to ignore such simple requests from him, but this time, something inside of me just didn't want to comply. And for some reason, that small act of rebellion felt important in a strange way. When I finally did the vacuuming Saturday morning, there was an odd sense of satisfaction in doing it under duress after avoiding it for so long. It's hard to explain why I feel this way, perhaps it's about needing validation or some form of discipline from him? Whatever it is, I'm left wondering if it's a fleeting phase or part of something deeper within me that needs to be explored.
