A Question of Control

I've been helping my partner by setting boundaries in our dynamic without using any labels. Tonight, I found myself implementing a disciplinary measure for an agreed-upon rule violation, something that felt out of place but was necessary according to our agreement. Was this common practice among similar couples? Is it normal to feel slightly uncomfortable after enforcing such measures?
