Working Night Shift and Daydreaming About Playtime
Anonymous Sugar Sprite #319 · General Confessions
I've been working the night shift at a warehouse for months now. The long hours and late nights have me feeling perpetually exhausted, but strangely enough, they also seem to make my mind wander in directions it never did during regular day jobs. I find myself increasingly drawn to age-play scenarios that offer a stark contrast to the monotony of unloading crates and stacking pallets. It’s almost as if the tiredness brings out this child-like innocence or curiosity within me that I’d buried long ago. Every night, after my shift ends, I retreat into a place where I can be anyone other than myself. The adult world fades away, and for a moment, I am back at the playground, laughing without a care in the world. I haven’t acted on these fantasies yet but they feel real, almost too real. It’s unsettling to think about how much I look forward to returning home and pretending to be someone else just so I can forget all my responsibilities. Is there something wrong with finding comfort and escape from reality through this kind of play? Am I overthinking it, or is this a sign that I might need some deeper exploration into what makes me tick outside of work?
