...I Broke One Little Rule...
Anonymous Giggly Star #232 · General Confessions
So here I am, confessing to what might seem like such a tiny thing in the grand scheme of things. It's this one little rule I broke last week when I was bartending at a local event... You see, my daddy has always been so strict about these rules, don't drink on duty, no eating snacks from the bar counter (that's what we have breaks for), and most importantly, if he gives an order, it needs to be followed without question. We've had this dynamic going on for a couple of months now... I didn't know why at first... But after a few sessions, things just clicked. And you know, the more time that passes, the better I feel about it, embracing it has given me clarity and confidence in other areas of my life too. So back to last week's event. The bar was packed, drinks were flowing... and we had a strict policy from daddy to not drink any alcohol during work hours. He wanted me fully focused on serving our patrons without the distraction of being under the influence. Now normally I'm super good at following these rules, but there was this one moment... This tiny moment where I just thought, why not? Just one sip wouldn't hurt anyone or anything... I poured a little shot of whiskey and took it down in one gulp, just like that, breaking his rule. And the funny thing is? It didn't even make me feel bad... Instead, it made me realize how much I've been letting this dynamic control my every move. Sometimes you just need to take a step back and say 'Hey, I'm an adult here.' But then guilt started creeping in later when daddy found out... He was upset, understandably so, and reminded me of all the reasons why we have such strict rules. So yeah, I feel bad about it now but at the same time... there's this part of me that doesn't want to go back to living in fear of breaking those unspoken rules either. It’s a strange place to be in, trying to balance respect and freedom.
