...The Rules Sometimes Don't Make Sense to Me...

Lately, I've found myself slipping into this curious state of mind where the usual responsibilities and rules that govern my life seem not just burdensome but unnecessary. It's as if, for a moment in time, I can breathe without worrying about the ticking clock of deadlines and commitments. The other day, I was supposed to grade a pile of essays before attending an important meeting, but instead, I found myself engrossed in watching cartoons with my favorite stuffed animals spread around me like old friends. It felt liberating, almost childlike, but also oddly soothing. By the time reality caught up and I had to return to grading those essays, it was already late, and the stack only seemed larger. The feeling of having broken a self-imposed rule left an odd sense of guilt behind... Does this mean anything? Am I just tired or is there something deeper here?
