Today Was Different

I never thought I'd find myself in this place, but today was different. Cared for her like a child would need, bathed her, dressed her in soft nightgowns she never chose to wear before. Her eyes got that dreamy look when I read bedtime stories and tucked her in with whispered words of comfort. It felt so right, yet so wrong, both thrilling and terrifying all at once.
