When I Finally Let Go of Control

So here's the thing. It all started when I was in my early 20s and came out as trans. My partner at the time, let’s call her Sarah, was supportive but also really into control. You know how it is sometimes, you're both exploring stuff together, but your needs don't always align. Sarah was big on the idea of discipline too, kind of like she needed to be in charge for us to have any sort of connection. It got to a point where I was questioning everything. Was this who I really wanted? Could I ever fully let go and trust someone else to take control, even if it meant being disciplined? It's hard when you're used to making your own decisions all the time, but I needed more than just my independence in our dynamic. One night, we were both pretty wasted. I had this moment of clarity, that feeling where everything seems clear and intense at once. We ended up going into a really deep roleplay where she took on a teacher's role for me, like an adult class setting. She explained to me how I was supposed to learn from my mistakes and follow rules more closely. It felt...weird but also good in some way I couldn't fully grasp at the time. We did everything explicitly: her hands were all over me, guiding and disciplining. There were times when it hurt, but in a way that made me feel alive. The next day, we talked about how much we both needed this outlet for control and discipline. That night wasn't just a one-off, it opened up a whole new space between us where we could explore more of these dynamics without the pressure of reality hanging over our heads. It's been amazing to see how far we've come, but also challenging because sometimes I slip back into that independent mindset and forget to let her lead. I guess what I'm trying to say is that while it took me a long time to feel okay with giving control away even in play, there’s something incredibly freeing about letting someone else guide you for once. It's not just about the physical act or the discipline; it's about trusting another person enough to explore different aspects of yourself together.
