Forgot To Feed The Fish (Again)

Anonymous Shy Petal #466 · General Confessions

So here I am, sitting at my kitchen counter, staring at a plate of uneaten leftovers that I'm supposed to put away but don't really feel like dealing with. But you know what? That's not the worst part. The worst part is I just remembered, again, that I forgot to feed the fish today. Now, in the grand scheme of things, this isn't exactly a life-changing moment. It's not like it’s going to kill me or even affect my marriage directly, but... there's something about that guilt settling into the pit of my stomach. Maybe it's because the damn cat has been staring at me from across the room, as if he knew I forgot and is just waiting for me to take care of it so we can all move on with our lives. When it comes to these kinds of slip-ups in a DDLG setup like mine, you'd think they wouldn't matter. You’d be wrong. It’s not about the cat food, it's about the commitment, the responsibility that I agreed to take on. And yet, there I am, procrastinating because honestly? Cleaning up and feeding one small fish feels pretty insignificant when everything else is screaming for my attention. But as a spouse who tries to uphold some semblance of adult responsibilities (even if it doesn't feel like much sometimes), the nagging feeling in my gut tells me otherwise.
