Why Am I So Into This?

Anonymous Sugar Star #322 · General Confessions

So I recently got out of a relationship that was more than just a breakup. It's been a few weeks since she and I decided to part ways, and I'm starting to feel things I never expected. A lot has changed in my life since then, but one thing stands out, my interest in something I used to joke about before: being a little. I'm 25 and have always been into power dynamics, just never thought it would manifest as a desire to regress in this way. We dated for two years, and the breakup was mutual because we had different goals moving forward, she wanted kids, I didn't. It wasn't about cheating or anything like that, just a growing apart thing. What's really odd is that even before things went sour between us, I never would have admitted to having this kind of interest. The thought used to make me uncomfortable, but now it feels right. Since the breakup, I've been exploring online communities and forums for littles, reading stories from people like me, single adults trying to understand why being a little feels so natural. I'm not sure if my attraction stems from a need for comfort after ending things or something deeper that's always been there but suppressed. The idea of finding someone who understands the little dynamic and cares about me in this role is both thrilling and daunting at once. It's like waking up with an entirely new set of preferences overnight. I guess I'm just wondering if anyone else has gone through a similar transformation or had such sudden changes after ending a long-term relationship. Is it normal to suddenly feel drawn towards something that felt so alien before?
